The Beginning of the Journey

Well, this is my first post! Sweet Sara has walked me through how to do different things, so I am going to try my darndest to keep it updated from here on out! Thank you for your patience thus far! :) For those of you that don't know, I am in BRAZIL. I have been in language school in Ribeirao Preto since Jan. 26th, and will leave to go to Belem (2 degrees south of the equator) on Tuesday, April 27th.
I am going to start by posting some pictures that I've taken in the almost 3 months that I've been here.

This is Sara and me in Anapolis when we went home for Carnaval with Mariana.

Natalia, Mariana and yours truly. Mariana was such a warm welcome to Brazil, and I miss her greatly since she has had to go back home. Natalia is one of the girls that lives with me in the pousada.

This is Mayara..she is one of my best Brazilian friends. She is the daughter of Yara, the owner of my pousada. Mayara also owns a pousada of her own that is right down the street than the one that I live in. I very much enjoy her, and she is definitely one that I will miss the most when I leave for Belem. However, she's planning on coming to visit me "for 15 days" when I come back to the States.

And this was taken just yesterday! This is me with 2 of my Portuguese teachers! Silvia is the blonde on the left. She knows and can speak English almost as well as I can. She has such a fun personality, and I've probably learned the most from her. Leda is on the right, and she knows almost zero English. She is so great though, and goes to my church that I have been going to. Sara and I usually have our "Conversation" class with her, and we always learn so so much.

Notice also, in this last picture that we are all wearing long sleeves...that is because it has definitely been the chilly temperature of 70 degrees the past 2 days!! It's by far the coldest that it's been since we've been here. It has felt like 45-50 degrees for us, and we have been embracing it like nobody's business!

Ok, I know this post might be a little rough..bear with me. They will get better! :)
